Carpet tile
Modular squares that can be replaced one piece at a time. Here is how a carpet tile floor is set out and laid.

1. We measure and plan the layout
Tiles run in a grid, so where that grid starts decides how the room looks. We set it out so the cut tiles land at the edges instead of down the middle.

2. The subfloor is prepared
Carpet tile needs a hard, flat, dry surface. We check it, clean it and deal with anything that would telegraph through the tiles.

3. Centre lines are snapped
We mark the centre lines of the room and dry-lay a run of tiles along them before anything is fixed down, so you can see the direction of the pile.

4. Tiles go down with release adhesive
The adhesive holds the tiles in place but lets a single one be lifted later. That is the whole point of a tile floor.

5. Edges and obstacles are cut in
Tiles are cut to the walls, around door frames, columns and anything else in the room.

6. Spare tiles stay with you
We leave a few tiles behind. If one gets damaged or stained, it can be swapped instead of replacing the floor.
